The Archivists Toolkit Topics: Challenges in Sustainability and/or One Database, Multiple Standard Outputs
I could talk on a couple issues surrounding the Archivists’ Toolkit namely:
- A background of the project, leading up to a discussion of the challenges in sustaining open source program in small communities. It would be great to talk present this talk with someone else involved in an open source project.
The second topic is one I’m super excited about:
- Using the AT as the official record for descriptive metadata generation of archival discovery standards such as MARC and EAD and DC. I’m currently working on this project at NYU, and it involves the integrating EAD and MARC into one ILS end-user display (using Primo) and also ensuring correct DC metadata harvesting for OAI.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Archivists’ Toolkit, it is basically an open source CMS for archival data (www.archiviststoolkit.org).
